Grammar: It’s About Parts Of Speech

How many parts of speech are there? It depends on whom you ask, but traditionally, there are eight:


Every word you write belongs to one of these parts of speech, although some words can belong to more than one.

For example, look at the word grade:
     Noun: The grade of the hillside is steep.
     Verb: Mr. Smith had to grade the tests.
     Adjective: The eggs are grade A.
